Mayor's Citizenship Awards

Two of our volunteers were nominated and selected to be recognised at the Mayor's Citizenship Awards in Taunton Deane at a celebration evening held recently. Even though they were not one of the 3 main Award Winners, they were successful nominees and were presented with a certificate by Mayor of Taunton Deane Libby Lisgo.
Joy was Tone Leisure's very first Volunteer Walk Leader. She helped the scheme start up by planning and walking routes for our first health walks programme in 2005. She has continued to lead health walks twice a week with a team of others, many of whom she has helped to recruit over the years.
Thanks to the team, the scheme has developed into providing a range of walks from beginner walks through to longer walks. Her husband David started volunteering for Tone about 3 years ago now, as a Communications Volunteer, supporting Joy and the other volunteer leaders by helping to promote the health walks and spreading the word. He has spent a lot of time building a website for Tone Leisure's schemes and with the help of another walker, continues to maintain the website. David has taken a lot of the photos that are on the website and he helps to distribute our programmes to walkers and to the Doctors Surgeries with the help of other leaders.

Joy & David say "Thank you" to every one that nominated us for Taunton Deane's Citizenship Awards Scheme, we are very honoured.
