As I leave Tone Leisure, I'd like to wish everyone the very best for the future – a happy, healthy and active one! Walking for Health has been one of the best programmes I've worked on. I hope you will all keep walking and that the walks will continue for a long time into the future.

December 2013

November 2013 saw the highest number ever of total participations across all of our health walks in Taunton Deane and Mendip - 774! This number beat all the other months in all the previous years – wow! Can we beat that record during 2014? I hope so!

Happy Christmas and Happy Health Walking in 2014.

Here we are at the end of another successful year of health walks! I'd like to wish everyone a happy holiday and a happy new year and I hope that you'll continue to walk well with us for good health in 2013.

July 2012

Here we are in July already! There's been so much going on over the summer months in the world of Walking for Health and Tone.

Leaders from Wellington held a walk further afield between Lympstone and Exmouth which was enjoyed by many.

New volunteer leaders have joined the team in Mendip and have been planning their first walks for the Autumn programme (out mid-August - watch this site!) - I'm looking forward to that.

Our leader from Ruishton - Pat - put on a display to promote Walking for Health at the "Fit for a Queen" exhibition in the church at Ruishton.

Karen - one of our leaders in Street - took on the challenge of walking up Ben Nevis with her daughter, in aid of their chosen charity.

It was announced that "The Ramblers" is the new host of the national Walking for Health initiative with the support of Macmillan Cancer Support. There are already plans for the Christmas party in Taunton!! We won't wish the summer away just yet but we will wish for the sun to shine on the health walks.

What a wonderful few weeks of fine weather we have had! Long may it continue throughout our summer programme.

We officially launched the new website on Friday 18th May and have had some lovely comments in the guestbook already. Earlier this month, we trained 7 new volunteers in Mendip who are now busy planning to start leading some walks in the autumn.

We're looking forward to training more new volunteers in Taunton Deane at the end of July - see the Volunteering page for more details about the training day.

Happy Jubilee Weekend and bye for now!

Well, I'm really excited about the launch of the new "Walk Well" website. I think it looks absolutely brilliant and I hope you'll join me in thanking David Boaden for all his hard work in setting it up. David has given many hours of his time over the last 2 months to building the website, uploading information and thinking up ideas to make the site relevant and interesting to walkers, and I'm really grateful to him. This is just the beginning! Please use the Guestbook to leave your comments and we will publish it on the Guestbook page.

If you would like to make a suggestion about what else we could do with the website, please fill in the form on the Contact us page.

Bye for now
